We all know that regularly changing the engine oil and filter in your vehicle is an extremely important part of scheduled maintenance and overall “cheap insurance” for your motor. Failure to do so many result in engine sludge and an all-around detrimental fate for your vehicle and engine. But did you know that there is also an oil specification that you must pay very close attention to for your Volkswagen and Audi?
The Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda) introduced oil specifications aka “oil specs” for their vehicles in order to provide guidelines for the products that they deem suitable for their gas and diesel (TDI) vehicles. Such oil specs include, but are not limited to:
Oil companies must undergo extensive R&D, testing and spend enormous amounts of money in order to gain approval by Volkswagen and other automobile manufacturers for their products to be on the acceptable list. Using an oil that is not manufacturer-approved will result in less than favorable results and may cause premature wear and damage to engine components…..which ends up costing you more money.
We take great pride in keeping these products on the shelf at Das Autohaus. You will not find our products at your local parts store or a quick lube establishment. There is a reason that they offer $19.00 oil changes…..and it is not because they are selling you “the good stuff,” much less a VW or Audi approved oil. Know what is being putting into your car – at Das Autohaus, there is no question because it is a VW / Audi approved oil.
